Merry Christmas and Happy NewYear from our little piece of paradise in Hua Hin. Hard to believe it’s all coming to an end. Think we’re in for a pretty rowdy evening from some of the sound system’s I’m hearing being checked. Our plan is to be on the beach for
Left Bangkok on Dec 23rd at
It’s two air conditioned cars, clips along at a good speed and took about 3 ½ hours to get here. There was constant carts going up and down the aisle with free drinks, snacks and lunch. Took the drinks and snacks but said no thanks to lunch. We called Job (our manservant) when we arrived and he sent along a van to pick us up. Our place is called Ocean Breeze and it’s absolutely wonderful (same place we stayed last year). It’s just outside of Hua Hin in a place called Khao Takiab (
Tom and I usually go for a walk and then back to read, play, swim or whatever. Lunch is at the beach and is either a shared tuna sandwich and fries and beer or BBQ’d corn on the
cob on a stick and a beer. Dinner we BBQ or go out but it usually entails shrimp in some form for me.
Christmas Eve Gone went to
the market and picked up some shrimp, squid, fish and chicken. Jenny and I went to the grocery store and got veggies. We had the most lovely BBQ here at our place. Then Christmas morning we also had our breakfast together here. The kids opened their presents and as usual Oliver was looking for something ”bigger” and Nick wanted what Oliver got.
Santa did leave a letter though to say he’d left some “bigger” toys in
My birthday was on the 28th and I actually had a really nice day. I told the kids I wanted hugs and kisses so that’s exactly what I got first thing in the morning. In
lovely blue silk scarf/wrap. I was so surprised – what a nice thing to do. Then a bit later there was a knock on the door and it was Nicky calling me to come to a “pizza party”. They had a little birthday cake with candles that even said 59 –how cruel was that!! Gone and Jennifer gave me a lovely bottle of Chardonnay – Long Neck – South African which I saved and then polished off last night. I did share a glass with Tom and sips to the other two……. We had it with some bread,
cheese and fruit.
A few days ago we decided to go into town to book our train tickets home – the express at

The beach is wonderful. The boys absolutely love it. At first they complained about the salty water but now you can’t keep them out. There’s always a breeze but the last few days have been very breezy. The waves are wicked. Much like we experienced in the Outer banks of
Tonight it’s out to dinner around
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. We think of you often and drank a toast to all at Christmas and will do so again this evening. We wish everyone all the best for 2008. Stay in touch………………..

Wow! It sounds like an amazing life. Lois and I are jealous.
Has the weather been sunny and hot...and did the storm materialize from the heavy clouds you were watching?
The pictures really give us an idea of your place and the daily activities.
My brother and his wife and planning a 3-4 week trip of Thailand in February. Would you recommend they inquire about the property where you are now staying? If so could you send me an e-mail with name, contact person, email address etc. Thanks.
We didn't feel like going out anywhere so enjoyed a quiet evening at home on New Years Eve. Watched the ball drop in New York before heading for bed.
Lois and I are now firmed up for our trip to the Arabian Peninsula...and yes, we've booked one night at the hotel Burj Al Arab in Dubai. Leaving here on February 18 and back March 8th. Doing lots of research and getting excited!
We look forward to your updates.
Keep healthy you two

Wow!! Sounds like you are having a busy, busy time! I am sure you have heard about the break-ins. We are all looking at your house and Wayne and Wendy are there putting lights on etc. We just signed up for a house alarm system--the guy lives here in Craig Bay. With the house already wired, it really is not too expensive.
Hope you are both having a great time. When are you home? Seems so long since you left. You are missed!
We are good. Ready for some sunshine so Dick has me looking for some "cheap" cruises. Gid and Jo take off at the end of February. Then Wayne and Wendy in April.
We have three couples coming over this weekend to watch the semi finals of the NFL. Dick is over the moon as Green Bay is playing. If they win, they are in the Super Bowl!! I must admit--I am a "PackerBacker"!!
Take good care of yourselves and know that we are thinking of you.

I saw many good reviews about Ocean Breeze then went to Tripadvisor Hua Hin hotel reviews ( B&B / Inns section ) and saw some absolutely terrible reviews. Someone even canceling their stay because of those reviews!
Since then I have found very many good reviews for Ocean Breeze on travel blogs such as these. We like something quiet, natural and relaxed, we don't like hotels. I think I can trust these blogs more than Tripadvisor reviews now !
We stayed at Ocean Breeze in March and had a lovely time, I have posted our reviews on Yahoo
We had a week at ocean Breeze in may and had a lovely time also. The staff made us feel at home and were very good.
